The Motorcycle Story
A café racer isn't just a look. It’s a riding position that keeps you alert.

The Continental GT 650 is a café racer and the sportiest iteration of the 650 platform. It features the same 648cc twin-cylinder engine as the Interceptor, but the frame, ergonomics, and geometry have been redesigned for a sporty riding position: clip-on handlebars below the seat level, rear-set footpegs, and a sharper steering angle.

The name pays homage to the 1965 Continental GT 250, the British café racer that made Royal Enfield famous among young riders in the late sixties. Today's GT 650 follows the same philosophy: a motorcycle tuned for pace and corners, not for comfort. With an output of 35 kW, it falls within the A2 license limit.

This is not a long-distance touring bike. It is for the rider who chooses corners over shortcuts. For a Friday loop through the Moravian Karst, a morning ride around Karlštejn, or summer hairpins in the Alps. A modern take on the café racer. If the sporty riding position isn't for you, check out Interceptor 650: the same engine in a more versatile form.

A twin that loves to pick up the pace

The same 648cc twin-cylinder platform as the Interceptor, but tuned for a sportier feel. Torque kicks in early and builds linearly, peaking at 7,150 rpm. There’s no dramatic surge, just steady and predictable acceleration. The six-speed gearbox features shorter ratios for carving through corners.

Café racer geometry

The double-cradle frame is identical to the Interceptor, but the ergonomics differ. Clip-on handlebars sit below the seat level, and the footpegs are set 35 mm further back. It features a 41 mm telescopic fork at the front and twin Paioli shocks at the rear. The wheelbase is 1,398 mm, and the seat height is 820 mm. The curb weight is 212 kg, which is 5 kg lighter than the Interceptor thanks to a stripped-back rear seat.

STORY · HERITAGE

Continental GT 250, 1965

In 1965, Royal Enfield introduced the Continental GT 250: a British cafe racer with low clip-on handlebars and sporty geometry. It became a symbol of the mid-sixties London motorcycle scene and the riders who raced between cafes to hit the 100 mph mark. Today’s GT 650 carries the same name for good reason. Same attitude, more modern technology. It is not a retro replica, but a continuation.

DETAIL · CRAFTSMANSHIP

A stance that demands you ride

Clip-on handlebars below the seat level, rear-set footpegs, and a higher leg position. This ergonomics package isn't built for city comfort, but for carving through corners. On a straightaway, you will feel the pressure on your wrists. In a turn, you will forget all about it. The cafe racer stance keeps the rider alert, not comfortable.

ENGINE · CHARACTER

Same twin-cylinder engine, different purpose

The twin-cylinder architecture remains the same, but the character has evolved. The GT features shorter gearing for cornering and a slightly sharper exhaust note. Its 47 hp and 52 Nm are the same figures as the Interceptor, but here they serve a different purpose.

RIDE · FEELINGS

Built for corners, not highways

The typical Continental GT owner wears a leather jacket and a brown helmet. A Friday afternoon loop from Brno through the Moravian Karst, Saturday morning around Karlštejn, or Alpine hairpins in the summer. The GT isn't built for long-distance touring. It is for rides where the route matters more than the destination.
