1891 – Foundation
Enfield Manufacturing is founded in Redditch, England. Originally a manufacturer of bicycles and weapon parts, this is where the legendary slogan "Made Like A Gun" originates.
1932 – The birth of the Bullet
The Royal Enfield Bullet debuts at the Olympia Motorcycle Show in 250cc, 350cc, and 500cc versions. Thanks to its innovations, it soon becomes an icon that endures to this day.
1949 – Royal Enfield in India
The first motorcycles are exported to India. The Bullet 350 quickly becomes the country's most popular motorcycle, marking the beginning of a long-standing partnership with the Indian Army.
1977 – Exporting the 350cc Bullet to Europe and the UK
Enfield India begins exporting the Bullet 350 to the UK and Europe, where it quickly gains a cult following among classic motorcycle enthusiasts.
2008 – Globalization
Royal Enfield opens new design and technology centers in the UK and India. The brand begins to establish itself as a global motorcycle manufacturer with a strong heritage.
2016 – Himalayan
Royal Enfield launches the Himalayan, a versatile adventure motorcycle that opens the door for the brand into the adventure touring segment.
2018 – Bonneville Record
Cayla Riva, an 18-year-old racer from California, sets a new speed record of 252.7 km/h at the Bonneville Salt Flats on a specially modified Continental GT 650 Twin.
Today – A Global Brand with an Icon at Its Heart
Royal Enfield sells motorcycles in more than 60 countries worldwide. The Bullet, Classic, and Himalayan remain flagship models, while the brand continues to innovate without losing its connection to tradition.
1901 – First Motorcycle
Royal Enfield introduces its first motorcycle – a bicycle with a small engine unit. The brand thus becomes one of the oldest motorcycle manufacturers in the world.
1939 - 1945 "Flying Flea"
During World War II, Royal Enfield produces the small 125cc "Flying Flea" motorcycle, which could be parachuted to soldiers behind enemy lines. A symbol of courage and reliability.
1955 – Founding of Enfield India
A joint venture is established in Chennai, where Bullets begin to be assembled and soon fully manufactured. India becomes the brand's new home.
1994 – A New Era
The Indian group Eicher Motors acquires Royal Enfield. Production is modernized, and the brand begins to gain international attention.
2013 – Continental GT
The Continental GT 535 model brings a retro café racer style, demonstrating that Royal Enfield knows how to blend tradition with modern design.
2017 – Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650
Introduction of the all-new 650cc twin-cylinder engine platform. The Interceptor and GT 650 models receive prestigious awards worldwide, establishing the brand as a global player.
2020 – Make It Yours
Make-It-Yours (MIY), the launch of unique motorcycle personalization. Customers can configure their motorcycle when booking via the Royal Enfield app, on the website, or in-store.
